What IS GOD CALLING Your CHURCH To Do? | Paul Takes the Gospel to Antioch near Pisidia. John Knox prayed, “Lord, give me Scotland or I die.” Our Savior cried, “Jerusalem, O Jerusalem, I would have gathered you as a hen does her chicks, but you would not.” What is our cry and prayer for Lexington? Do we have this kind of prayer for our Jerusalem? Is Lexington a safe place to live? This is what was typed into the search bar. And here is the answer received: “With a crime rate of 49 per one thousand residents. Lexington has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One’s chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 20.” (www.neighnorhoodscout.com/nc ) I’m not saying this out of criticism but to point out the dire spiritual need right here in our home town. Whatever has been the plan for community health and safety is clearly failing. We see in the passage before us (Acts 13) that Paul and Barnabas had a plan to take the gospel to the cities they went to.
