New Year, New You!

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU!

New You? Even with your New Year’s Resolutions, did you step across the threshold of midnight into 2019 any different than you had been at the end of December? Did you wake up to a new you?

Only in Christ are we made new. Paul says in his letter to the Corinthians, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Cor. 5:17. Will this ‘new creation’ see 12-31-2018 from a different perspective?

Even though you may have given your life to Christ many years ago, and not as the ball dropped on 2018 and on your past, God still promises us newness: new hope, new life, new mercies. And we do not have to wait until January 1st each year to accept His gift. Every morning His mercy is new; His compassion for us never fails.

“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lam. 3:22-23

No matter if you are one to make and keep New Year’s resolutions, make and break them, or just not bother at all, each day is a new opportunity for you to grow in your relationship with your Creator, with your Savior. How will you use the next 365 days of new mercies?

As a body of believers, let’s resolve to start each day in the Word of God and to follow His lead, and allow the newness He has promised.
