Why can't you change things? After all of man's advances, we are not a great deal better off morally or spiritually than we were in premodern times. After years of self-help, many people simply give up in despair concluding that nothing ever changes really. Is there any consolation then? Yes, there is but it will take faith, joyful work, and long patience. You see, once again Qoheleth has led us deeply down the ever-darkening path of trusting in ourselves rather than in God’s rule. Once again, the answer is found in God who sits enthroned outside this fallen world. It is He alone that is able to rescue. But He will only rescue those, who like Noah and his family, will by faith enter God’s ark of salvation - Jesus Christ - God Himself.
