Young men and young women, do not waste the life God has given you complaining about your lack of opportunity or how someone else has more of them. Solomon calls us to rejoice in whatever opportunities He has given YOU, however few or many, and to seize them for His glory. This is YOUR life - do not waste it! Make the most of what you have been given Rather than bringing sorrow, our limited knowledge is cause for rejoicing in the opportunities that God brings into our lives through His divine providence. In verse 6 we are encouraged to sow our seed and not to allow lack of complete knowledge to hold us back. We are told to sow the seeds of a godly life trusting in God’s omniscience rather than our own. We do not know which He will prosper, those sowed in the morning or those sowed in the evening! And if we do not understand his point, Solomon gives us another analogy concerning life lived for God through wisdom. He tells us in verses 7 and 8 that living is good! “Seeing the sun each new day is a reason to rejoice in God! Do not take any day for granted but embrace and be thankful for each one (verse 8a). Even through the many dark days of life (verse 8b) find cause to rejoice in God’s blessing of the gift of a new day because life is terribly short and we should never waste it (verse 8c).
