What about those who stand against God and persecute His people? How are God’s people to handle those who persecute them for their faith? Should believers retaliate against those who afflict them unjustly? What about Christ’s command to forgive those who persecute us? Is it wrong to expect that God will someday judge those who have opposed Him and mistreated His saints? And how should believers pray? Should they only pray for the grace to forgive? Or, is there a deeper sense, a broader theological perspective that takes the coming of God’s kingdom and the consumption of all things into account?

I believe there is and Psalm 129 is one basis for this belief. Will God vindicate His prophets, apostles, and saints for the unjust treatment many of them have received? Psalm 129 is an example of those psalms that help us come to terms with the unjust treatment of God’s people throughout the centuries. Such passages in Scripture acknowledge that the true saints of God have often been the victims of slander, false accusations, and even crimes by those who hate them because of their obedience to God.

Having trouble understanding the Bible? Do want someone to explain the Bible in everyday language in a way that you can understand it? Our goal is to help God's people understand His Word.
