Is GOD Your Portion? Does the Gospel Include Repentance?

Matthew Henry the great biblical commentator and probably the most well-known puritan in our day has written regarding Psalm 119:57-64, 

“Those that take God for their portion must also take Him for their prince.”

What exactly did Henry mean by that statement? After some meditation on it, it seems apparent that he was saying that if we would have God as our redeemer and provided we must repent of our sins and take Him as our sovereign ruler. Repentance is a vital part of the gospel. It is also a regular part of the Christian’s daily walk with God. Repentance involves how we come to God and how we go about seeking to commune with Him.
