Praise to the King of the Earth, Psalm 47

July 17, 2019 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: The Book Of Psalms, Songs & Prayers to the King

Topic: Psalms, Citizenship, Kingdom Of God Scripture: Psalm 47

This psalm is about praise! It is about worship. In it, the psalmist calls on “all peoples” to praise and extol God because of His magnificent greatness!

What is our purpose, our principle from living that we are to pull from psalm 47? We should take from psalm 47 that worship and praise are to pour from us with exuberance and celebration. This psalm should cause us to examine our worship and peruse our praise. Do we praise and worship God with such passion? Are we overcome with His person, His power, His mighty works, His Word, and His Son? Or do we mosey in and sit through another “order of service” with little thought other than that we do not like this that song, or that we are uncomfortable or tired or bored? Let us put aside such trivial things and behold our God and we will be capture and raptured by His glory!

This psalm should cause us to take a serious look at how we come before our God each week in worship.
