What Do You Think of the Galilean?

Matthew informs us that these Gentiles knew very well that Jesus was claiming to be the Jewish Messiah whose appearance was foretold in the Scriptures. They understood that this was the God of Israel and not in any way connected to their own idols. How do we know that? Because they make a very general reference, in verse 31b, to the Jewish prophet Isaiah’s prophecy regarding the Messiah’s miraculous work that verify His identity.

And as a result of their first contact with the Messiah of the Jews, their verdict was: “He has done all things well.”
