How much time do you give to seek God’s will? Five minutes a day? Ten minutes a week? Thirty minutes a month? Perhaps God’s will isn’t something you’ve every given much thought to? Perhaps you say: “Pastor I am so busy trying to get my life on the right track. If I can solve a few of these big problems in my life, I’ll have more time for religion. Preacher you don’t understand how hard it is out here! I’ve prayed and I attend church but I’m not a saint or a preacher — I just need help and I don’t really have time to wait. I know God loves me and He will forgive me but the Devil has made my life so hard that I need to figure out a way to get past the things that are happening to me. I just do not have time to think about these kinds of theological questions. I guess that’s for you preachers to do.” Is that you? Then do I have a message for you! Before us is one of the hardest passages in all of the Bible to interpret but we are going to dive right into it today so that we may glean its wonder truths. To begin to piece together this difficult account of our Lord’s ministry, we must connect it with some important elements within the immediate and greater context of Scripture. Then we can discover how it speaks so powerfully to you and me today.
