Jesus’ teaching was different. It was enlightening, profound, and authoritative. The people in the synagogue were astonished as they listened to Jesus teach the Scriptures. What made Jesus’ teaching differ? There are many who seek to exercise authority over the believer. It has always been so, I’m sure. But in recent years the cancel culture and the rise of authoritarianism in the US, Christians are being forced to decide who has authority to command their obedience - culture, governments, or Christ through His Word?
