What if God the Father, the Almighty spoke directly to you to confirm that He did indeed send Jesus to die for the sins of His people, that Jesus is indeed the Son of God, that as the Son Jesus took upon Himself a human body and a human nature so that He might fulfill the law, suffer with us, and die in our place? Would you then believe it? There are two miraculous events in the life of Christ referred to in the text of Scripture before us today. These are the baptism of Jesus and the crucifixion of Jesus. Both of these events were ordained by the Father to give testimony to His beloved Son. The question is: “How can know that Jesus Christ is the Savior sent by God the Father?” That is exactly the question we are considering. You have God the Father’s Word on it! There are three times during which Jesus was affirmed by the Father. Each of these, John shows, has a profound impact on our understanding of how God came to save us from our sins through His Son. So if you want confirmation that Jesus is the way, there is no greater than the Word of God Himself.
