Spirit Empowered Worship, PART2

Series: 1 Corinthians, The Cross and Its Community Scripture: 1 Corinthians 14:26–40, Genesis 1:1–3, Genesis 2:2–22

What is spiritual worship? We can see all kinds of interpretations of it in denominations and church services. There are those Christian churches that more or less follow a strict liturgy. These are often called high church services, though this is not as prevalent as it once was. Then, of course, we have those churches that follow a simple liturgy much like ours. Of course, any service gathering can become chaotic or lose its edifying value simply through not using discernment and/or following the rule of Scripture. Our Savior told the woman at the well, "You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. [23] But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. [24] God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:22-24 (ESV) How do we know if the Holy Spirit is in our midst, if He is leading us, or empowering those sharing among us? Let’s take a couple of studies to zero in on Paul’s teaching here to help us grasp this difficult part of the practice of our Faith.
