Should Christian Women Wear Headcoverings?

The heart of the issue in 1 Corinthians 11 is ‘things that are disrupting the corporate gatherings of the church.’ The first section deals with head coverings, then the Lord’s Supper, and lastly, the role of spiritual gifts. In the text before this morning, we must take care not to become obsessed over he cultural expression (head coverings) while missing the underlying principles that must shape our faith in Christ — headship, authority, order, unity, the gospel, and God’s glory 

[2] Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. [3] But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Paul’s teaching regarding the new status of Christian women, as with so many other topics, had been exaggerated and misapplied by many in the Corinthian Church. He commends them for seeking to follow the Apostolic Tradition taught to them, but is compelled to correct this misinterpretation of the biblical teaching that had been given to them.
