Flee Fornication | The Body in Redemption
Series: 1 Corinthians, The Cross and Its Community Scripture: 1 Corinthians 6:12–20
In this section, Paul must face down a terrible practice that has been justified by the ignorant or evil misuse of slogans. That practice is sexual immorality — specifically, the use of prostitution. Some take their rights too far, their freedoms too personally, and their neighbor too lightly. We’ve seen the concept of rights being abused, haven't we?. How we use our laws, rights, and judgments may be more important than having them. In the section before today, Paul parleys from the local church judging the man in chapter 5 to the church conducting court for everyday affairs. This comes up because, once again, word has come to him that the Christians in Corinth are taking their issues with one another to the local courts rather than before the Pastors and Deacons of the local church.
