Pride, Sexual Confusion, and the Church

Moving into chapter 5 we have an abrupt transition. In chapters 5 and 6, Paul turns to two “reports” that he has received about the spiritual health of the church. The second report deals with the problem of Christians taking their issues with one another to court. The first report is our interest this morning. There was a man in the church, a Christian, who was having an illicit affair and the Corinthians church was tolerating it, even boasting about it in some way. He is writing to them about this to encourage them to take action.
