Paul is still answering the question asked in chapter 3, verse 5: “What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each.” (ESV) He is also continuing to develop the servant analogy he began in that same section. Paul will now challenge the Corinthians Christians to see their leaders as ‘stewards,’ or as ‘chief stewards.’
