Paul the Master Builder | 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 | Baptism Service 7-20-2025
As a master builder, Paul was given the plans for the construction. He has been given the design, layout, and materials to be used in the edifice. As the master builder, the general contractor, and overseer of all construction (this applies to all of Christ’s Apostles), he lays the Cornerstone and the Foundation. After this is done, the work of construction is handed off to many ‘sub-contractors’ to complete the building. Paul uses these metaphors to describe the pastor’s ministry. Spiritual leaders are builders too. Latent in each of these symbolic ways of looking at Gospel Ministry are lessons, teachings, patterns, warnings, and admonitions for every pastor, deacon, and evangelist.
