God is the Master Gardener (v.7b-9). “For we are God’s fellow workers…” This does not place us as equals with God in the field. It places us equal with one another in the field, which is the Church. Do you see all the Lord’s servants who truly preach the Word as equals in the cause of Christ’s Church and the gospel? Not only were the Corinthian Christians confused about the importance of the cross in the “coming kingdom” of God, but they were also having difficulty grasping it because their spiritual knowledge was, at best, infantile. Now, we see that they were also misguided about the ministry and ministers of the church. Having dealt with this in the first 2 chapters, Paul turns to address this glaring misplaced emphasis on ‘the preachers.’
