Can You Handle the Truth? | Why the Corinthian Church Accused Paul |
Series: 1 Corinthians, The Cross and Its Community Scripture: 1 Corinthians 3:1–4, Hebrews 5:11–14, James 1:19–20
Paul had received harsh criticism from a significant portion of the Corinthian church. Members of some of the factions, possibly all, charged Paul with only giving the church milk at the beginning. The Apostle stayed for two years in Corinth, evangelizing and discipling the region and the church. The Corinthians Christians believed that they were ‘wise’ and spiritual. But Paul levels a reality blow to their egos. He breaks it to them that he preached the gospel to them, but could only give them the milk of the Word because they were ‘fleshly’ and infantile in their behavior.
