Why Every Church Needs Biblical Preaching
What do we preach? What is the Church’s message? Is the message the same for every church? Does every church have its own unique message to proclaim to the world? Why do we preach at all? Within the Christian Church, preaching holds the place of primacy, but not just any preaching, cross-centered preaching. Continuing to grind away at the division plaguing the Corinthian Church, Paul the Apostle now dispels human pride and bragging from another angle, how the gospel of Jesus was presented to them when it first arrived through him. Over fifty years ago, in the book Preaching & Preachers, Dr. David Martyn Lloyd-Jones asked, “Is there any place for preaching in the modern Church and in the modern world, or has preaching become…outmoded?” Preaching & Preachers, p. 9. Paul has laid the foundation of doctrine, appealed to the Corinthian Christians' real-life experience, and now connects the method of delivering the gospel with the message of the gospel.
