Bragging Rights Belong to GOD
Series: 1 Corinthians, The Cross and Its Community Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:26–31, Jeremiah 9:23–26
After considering the Scriptures last week, we saw that the root problem causing division in the Corinthian church was pride. They prioritized wisdom and eloquence, aligning with the standards of the world around them. The Apostle’s answer to this was to point them to the cross of Jesus. He pressed them to understand that wisdom, philosophy, and eloquence are not the answer to humanity's dilemma. When the ages culminate and the apocalypse is upon us, the Gospel of Jesus is our only hope. Continuing his line of thought, Paul now turns to sustain this truth through the Corinthians themselves. He calls on them to think deeply about their own experience of believing in Jesus’ sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection from the dead.
