In a garden, long ago, when all was at stake, man betrayed God. Thousands of years had passed, God had worked His plan, and now the time had come for all that was lost to be regained but once again the Lord by friend and foe was betrayed and abandoned. The Savior faced the cruel shame and suffering of the cross alone! “Falling away” as we have it here means, ‘To forsake someone.’ What caused Jesus' disciples to forsake Him in the Garden of Gethsemane? What can cause you or me to forsake Jesus in a moment of fear or faithlessness?
