What role does the Bible have in your life? How much authority do think it should have in your daily decisions? Does the knowledge of Scripture that you have cause you to act upon it regularly? Do we take the Bible seriously? Does obeying the Scriptures have anything to do with having the assurance of salvation? Can a person know if he or she is saved from their sins? Can we know that we know God? If so, how can we have or gain such knowledge? John declares with no hesitation that the believer in Jesus Christ “knows God.” Such a personal and corporate relationship with the God of Heaven is possible. But at this point we must, with A.W. Tozer, take a step back and qualify some things. Though the Scriptures teach us that we can know God, they do not teach us that knowing Him is easy, quick, or without sacrifice. The knowledge of God is not cheap neither is it through the works and efforts of man. But, we must recognize that God will be known on His own terms and how He has chosen to reveal Himself. The problem with many today is that they care so little about Him that they treat God like they do fast-food, the movies, or a hobby. We think the Divine Being will play at. We treat Him as if He were lucky to have our attention, that He is the one who benefits from us whenever we choose to pay attention to Him. God will not reveal Himself to people who disregard Him in such ways. Such people will remain in ignorance and infantile in their knowledge of the Almighty.
