The evangelical church must recover the knowledge of God as king as it is taught in the Old and New Testaments. We are often distressed by the evil that rulers impose upon us. We witness their unjust treatment of those whose they dislike. We watch them respect persons in their judgment because of money or influence. Our cities suffer under their selfish and bad decisions. There is a King to whom we can look who only does what is right. God blesses the good and judges those who are evil. Earthly rulers, more often than not, lack compassion for those under their authority. It becomes easy for them to live in wealth and health while the people live day to day without hope of relief. The psalmist reminds us of the kingship of God and that our trust should be placed in the heavenly King. Once again, we have descriptions of God’s compassionate kingship heaped upon one another.
