The FIRST Step To Follow Jesus | What Will You Do?

Jesus never hid the fact that a call to follow Him was a call to take up the cross. The first step to follow Jesus Christ is to repent of our self-love and sins and to believe that Jesus is the Son of God who took on Himself our sins upon the cross. Jesus often referred to this simply as, “taking up our cross.” We just saw that bearing the cross of Jesus involves recognizing our self-love as sin. The other side of this life of following Jesus is living the cross-life for His glory. Bearing the cross does mean death to self and sin but it also means living the life of Christ, as He did. There are two essential elements of the cross-life that may be observed here in Psalm 131.
