There is a deception that can take place in our hearts, not by an organization, church, cult but by ourselves. In the previous verses, we have been commanded to take heed of how we receive the Word. Now we are warned - warned to practice the things found in the Bible or we will be deceived. A person has two choices when he hears the Word of Truth, he or she can be a doer of the Word or a hearer only. To merely hear the Bible preached and read is not enough, if we are not obedient to its teaching
