The Importance of Identity | The Christian's Place in the World

What is the importance of one's identity? What is the believer's place in the world and how do they determine it? We have seen in recent years a growing sentiment that anyone and everyone may bring their religion to bear in their lives and decisions, but Christians are expected to keep their faith contained within the privacy of their homes and houses of worship. Less and less the Christian Faith, which helped to build Western Civilization, is being allowed a seat at the table of our culture. Unfortunately, Christians, pastors, church leaders, and congregations have complied, to a very large extent. Should we wait simply to bow out and close our mouths to the culture around us? Should we carefully prepare our doctrine, teaching, and preaching in such a way that our faith has no implication or application to the decisions and practices of the world around us? As believers in Jesus Christ, His gospel, and the His Word, what is our role in this world? Should we wait for the culture controllers to give us permission to speak and live? There are many passages in Scripture that shed light on how we are to live in this fallen world. For instance, Psalm 125 proves to be very helpful to those who trust the Bible to be God’s Word and a reliable guide for this life and the next.
