The Superintending Hand of God - Psalm 80
July 22, 2020 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: The Book Of Psalms, Songs & Prayers to the King
Topic: Psalms, Prayer, God's Presence, Depression, Loneliness Scripture: Psalm 80:1–19
Referring to the Northern Kingdom of Israel Psalm 80 addresses the invasion of the armies of the Assyrian Empire in 721 BC. What is more fascinating is that this prayer is made by a psalmist from the Southern Kingdom on behalf of the Northern Kingdom.
The structure of Psalm 80 helps us to understand how to read it. There are three stanzas. Each stanza has a chorus that consists of “Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved (vs. 3, 7, 19).”
