Spiritual Habits of a Healthy Church, pt.2, They Responsibly Work for Peace

November 10, 2019 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: 1 THESSALONIANS, End-times Holiness

Topic: Unity, Gifts, Growth, Ministry Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:13–15

This is the second good habit of a healthy church. They responsibly work for peace in the congregation of the faithful. Of course, this becomes extremely difficult at times. Most church members, if asked would say they want peace in the church but how much are they actively doing to bring about and protect the spiritual unity of the congregation? What activities are they involved in that may hinder the peaceful gospel work and worship of the church? This is why we must work for peace responsibly. Peace that is centered in Christ and that flows from the truth of the gospel does not come without great intentional effort from both the leaders and the members of the church.

Dr. R.C. Sproul observed that “The cost of service is great because it is the cost of self” and this is nowhere more true than in congregational life.
