So What Are You Bragging About?

Topic: Psalms, Worldview, Philosophy, Culture Scripture: Psalm 52

The ancient Syriac Translation translates the word “evil” as “riches.” This makes sense when considered with the next line that reads, “The steadfast love of God endures all of the day.” The main idea of this verse, and of the whole psalm, is contrast. The psalmist is contrasting the fate of the man who trusts in his own might rather than in the steadfast love of God. The psalmist points out that riches do not last but the steadfast love of God endures forever.
