Wealth-trusters and God-trusters
July 31, 2019 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: The Book Of Psalms, Songs & Prayers to the King
Topic: Psalms, Worldview, Philosophy, Culture Scripture: Psalm 49
Perhaps more than ever we are willingly subjugated by our fear of wealthy and powerful individuals. More and more we are seeing our population yield virtually all of their thinking and belief to the wills of those who are perceived to be “rich and famous.” Of course, much of this is envy but within envy, fear is crouching in the corner. We want to fortune and fame because we want the power and popularity that comes with it. In Psalm 49 the writer is expressing his utter confidence in God’s provision for Him and renouncing the tendency of the believer to render fear and obeisance to wealthy and powerful people rather than to God.
