Topic: Discipleship, God's Will, Obedience to God Scripture: Colossians 3:18– 4:1

Paul, the Apostle of Christ, did NOT mount a rebellion against Roman slavery. When dealing with the slave Onesimus, who’d recently converted to Christianity, the Apostle Paul neither spoke of the evils of slavery nor rebuked Philemon for being a slave owner. Instead, Paul instructed Onesimus to resume his work as a servant, not of Philemon but of Christ, then he instructed Philemon to regard Onesimus not as a slave but as a brother in Christ (Philemon). The long term effect of such thinking results in the end of slavery within the Christian church.
