Luke 1:42b-45 Carols From the First Christmas, Pt 1 of 5, The Song of Elizabeth

December 2, 2018 Speaker: Scott Slaughter Series: Carols From the First Christmas

Topic: Jesus Christ, Messiah, Salvation Scripture: Luke 1:39–1:45

Imagine hearing about Jesus for the first time.

Imagine being a Jewish man or woman who for two thousand years you’ve heard of the promises in the Scriptures of a Savior-King who would someday come.

Imagine you have been told you are pregnant with the forerunner of that foretold Savior-King.

Imagine hearing your cousin tell you that she is expecting and that the angel of God told her that the baby she’s carrying is the long-awaited Savior-King.

That is what it is like to be Elizabeth.

Who was Elizabeth? What should we learn from this remarkable woman of faith?

It is my thought that as we approach Christmas we should see it through Elizabeth’s humble eyes of belief.
