John 15:10-17 The Believer's Love
August 26, 2018 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: The Gospel of John, Life In God
Topic: Discipleship, God's Will, Obedience to God Scripture: John 15:10–17
Our Lord has just taught on the believer’s relationship to his Lord, now He uses His own great love as an example to teach the disciples how to partake in the love of God with each other. This teaching is in preparation for the establishment of the church.
In verse 10 Jesus said, “If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love…”. In verse 12 we see what one of His main commandments is, “This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.” Our love is a love that is to be expressed, not by permissiveness, but by obedience to the teachings of our King and Master.
