John 14:15-31 The Ministry Of The Comforter

August 5, 2018 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: The Gospel of John, Life In God

Topic: Holy Spirit, Pentecost, Trinity Scripture: John 14:15–31

Our God is the Triune God. As our Lord Jesus comforted his disciples, He gave them the promise of His continued presence with them. This going to be accomplished through the ministry of the Third Person of the Holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit.

There is much for the believer to learn about the Holy Spirit in this text. I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to the vital ministry of the Spirit of Christ. Due to the amount of teaching about the Spirit in this passage, we will only be able to provide an introduction to prepare us for more teaching later. John is not finished teaching us about the Spirit and neither is Jesus.

You will notice that I have purposefully made extensive use of the writings of Paul and John in explaining the teaching of the NT on the Holy Spirit. This is so that you may have a consistency of understanding that Jesus and Paul are teaching the same things and that you may be able to relate what Jesus is teaching here to what is said elsewhere in the NT.
