March 22, 2020 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: PHILIPPIANS, Radical Joy In Christ
Topic: Discipleship, God's Will, Obedience to God Scripture: Philippians 4:1–3
In the last section of his epistle, Paul shows how thankfulness is the secret to peace in one’s life. Thanksgiving should be our constant attitudinal goal. There are two words that are clearly the keys to this portion of the epistle, thanksgiving, and peace. And as we have seen, peace is a by-product of thanksgiving. Therefore the apostle speaks much of peace. Peace is greatly sought after by people. They seek it through a variety of means. But true and complete peace can only come through a proper relationship with one’s Creator and His Son Jesus Christ.
There are several vital areas in which the apostle seeks to direct us concerning peace. There is peace in the church, peace in our hearts, peace in our minds, and peace in our lives. In these first three verses, we see Paul, the loving pastor, desiring to delineate the bare essentials of peace in church-life.
